Summer'11 Part 2

Update #1: I realized that i made a mistake in the title art. It's part 2 not 3. Sorry for the mistake.
Today's post will be on the 2nd part of my first impressions of the Summer 2011 Snimes.

Firstly, It will be on Kami-sama no Memo-chou. 'This is not your average detective series. This is a NEET Detective anime!!' is probably what Yuuko(Alice), the female lead would say. As what the tagline have said, it is of a mystery genre, and it contains no detectives but NEET Detectives. As far as i know, there hasn't been anything like this, so i would say, the idea is fresh.
The synopsis of the series says that Narumi, the male lead who have been introduced one day to a "Gardening Club" which turns out to be anything but gardening. The member of the club are all NEETs or Hikikomori and it seems that Narumi have already seen most of them "in action" some time back. There, he was "invited" into the club and becomes an assistant to Alice, the NEET detective.
I personally thinks that it is pretty much a new type of 'genre' when you add all the elements up. It isn't similar to the usual detective series in terms of the plot development(usually detective series starts with a few unrelated cases every episode but still manages to relates them at a later point), nor does it use the normal way of obtaining information and solving the case. How a NEET detective does things is similar to how a NEET gets information, which is the internet. You may still watch the series if you do not like detective series. In that case, maybe you can watch it for Alice, as she is HHNNNNGGGGGGGG! when she hugs her teddy~ 83
My rating for the series is currently a 7 but Alice is so HNNGG that i have to add points to it, so my final rating is 7.4 :D.

The next series for review is Kamisama Dolls. This is an action sci-fi (I love sci-fi. :D) series with gods that are mecha resemblances known as Dolls or 'Kakashi" fighting one another. The action part is somewhat like the usual mecha series, excepts the fact that there is no pilot and it is controlled by only the chosen one called "Seki". The Dolls and Seki were originally from a village and their existence was only known in that village. It is forbidden to let outsider know about the Kakashi.
As for the synopsis, It started with Kuga Kyohei, who was a former Seki. But after some things happened, he moved out from the village and denied his rights as a Seki. During a gathering, he saw a dead body in the elevator together with Hibino Shiba. His sister, Utao came to find him later to inform him that Aki, a fellow villager, friend and a Seki who was suppose to be locked up have escaped and is the one responsible for the murder.
Hmmm, i would say it is a little mature-themed in its plot. But overall, you can probably still understand it. For those who are thinking of Fan-Services, i have to say, "Nope, Sorry. I guess this series is NOT for you" unless you are sick enough to stare at Hibino's gigantic *Erhem* xD all the time,  which is probably one of the largest in anime history.  >///< However, do not fear, we still have the cute Utao in the series. :D There is also a short puppet skit of Utao and Kukuri(Utao's Kakashi) at the end of the episodes which is HHHNGGGGG! ><. On episode 3, we see more character(seki) entering the series and i guess it will probably be action packed within the next few episode.
My rating for the series if it goes according to what i predicted would be a 7.8

Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel: Kyun Kyun Tokimeki Paradise!! is up next. This is your usual Magical Girl series(Sailor Moon X Precure type of series). Of course, it is almost impossible for the series to be as good as Sailor Moon nor Precure.
As for the synopsis, I am too lazy to spent time writing it in my own words, so i am just going to copy from MyAnimeList. Haruka Minazuki and Aoi Kannazuki are two students at St. Cherine academy. Haruka is always filled with bubbly energy while Aoi is more mature and a top student in all her classes - but despite their differences the two are the best of friends. The two girls look like any other girls, attending the academy, but the truth is they are hiding a little secret, that they can't let anybody know about... During the day they really are just students at St. Cherine academy, but they can also become the Twin Angel duo, and fight against the evils of the town! The lovely Angels are back, and it's time for them to get ready for some action!
After watching the first episode, all i can say is, it's better off to spent your time re-watching Precure or Sailor Moon then to watch it. However, there is one thing to credit it on. For the first episode, just only this scene where the duo was transformed into nekomimi shoujo, it almost make me watch the 2nd episode.
My rating is an expected low score of 4.

Next will be Mayo Chiki!. When i first peeked at the trailers, I knew this will be a good series. And like expected, it's pretty decent. Made by the famous J.C. Staff, it is a comedy series with noticeable romance.
Sakamachi Kinjirou, your average highschooler who have an unusual family and an unusual phobia, one day uncovers the secret of Konoe Subaru, Butler of Suzutsuki Kanade. In truth, Subaru is actually a girl and since her secret is exposed, she can longer become the butler of the Suzutsuki family, unless...
This series is definitely one of this season's best. The only flaw i can point out from the series is that, Kana Hanazawa is being over-used!!! Not only does her voice not fit the role of Kinjirou's sister, her image doesn't fit such a character at all. Is not that i dislike her or anything, in fact, i liked most of the past characters she voiced. It is just that, SHE IS SERIOUSLY OVERUSED!!
If you like series like Toradora(it has similar character art too), Nyan Koi, MM!(minimum similarity), this will be enjoyable for you. For those after moe-ness of the character, try it out and Subaru may just melt your heart~ :P For those plot-loving fans, i can't say anything much about the overall plot yet but, up to episode 3, it is pretty decent. Btw, i watch it for DAT SHEEP! (<-- that's obviously a lie. Don't believe it. xP) If you are going to try it out, Do note that it contains quite a bit Fan-Services and may be NSFW(no nudity though) depending on your environment.
My rating is a decent 7.8

Last for this post is Mawaru Penguindrum. It is an original series that has been promoted strongly since halfway through the last season. I was intrigued by the CM in between my Animes from time to time. I guess, the strong promoting of the series worked on me. Hence, I watched the series with a positive image hoping that i will turn out just as good.
It is a comedy drama that revolves around fate. You can almost hear the word Fate or Destiny every single episode. The story started with 3 siblings, Takakura Shouma, Takakura Kanba and Takakura Himari who is in poor health, having a meal together. Himari is currently out of hospital which she frequents and on a date with her brothers. They went to the aquarium and Himari suddenly collapse and pass away later. Her brothers was traumatized by her sudden death where suddenly, she was miraculously revived by a hat she chose at the Aquarium Shop. However, in order for the hat to prolong Himari's life, the brother have to help it search for an item call the Penguin Drum with the help of 3 penguins that only the Takakura siblings can see.
A pretty interesting plot if you ask me. When i watched the series, i can't help but relate it to Arakawa Under the Bridge, although they are not related much. Maybe it's because Himari looks and behave somewhat like Nino. My favourite part of the series is definitely "Seizon Senryaku!~" as well as the background action of the 3 penguins. They are just so lovable. :3 I highly recommend this series as after watching 3 episode, I feel that this series will definitely turn out godly! You can wait till all the episode is out before trying it but i personally feels that if you watch them all at once, it probably wouldn't have the "i want the next episode now" effect and the Survival Strategies! wouldn't be as effective.
My rating for the series is a whooping 8.5!
