Summer 2012 Impressions~ Part 4 [Finale]

Finally reach the last few impressions. Sorry it took 2 weeks, was ill for the last week therefore not able to blog. Also at the current speed I am going, it is very obvious that I am way behind and will probably have to drop the "OP/ED Compilation" for Summer to catch up with next season release, just a few weeks a little more to go. I will see what I can do for the OP/ED sum up... Anyway, back to the topic, I have not seen the release of that greyed out Milky Holmes series. Would watch it if it was a released but I have not seen a single life of that at all.

Oda Nobuna no Yabou - #nobuna
Another series that I did not have a high hope for it in the beginning. In fact, I didn't plan to watch this in the first place. Couldn't remember why I went on to try it but this turns out to be awesome. To be exact, this would be one of the best this season in my opinion.

Oda Nobuna no Yabou is a Historical series(Sengoku Period) with some romance, comedy and actions. I would say this is a very well balanced series in the sense that it have both awesome battles and moe characters! The plot well, is based off the Sengoku War so it really doesn't defer much to your usual Sengoku War series. (i.e Sengoku Otome, Sengoku Collection[?], Sengoku Basara[?]
, etc.) I didn't watch Sengoku Basara before but I believe the battle in the it is more exciting but Oda Nobuna no Yabou's battle scenes, and strategies used isn't bad either. Similar to Sengoku Otome and Sengoku Collection (didn't watch it before either), the important characters are portrayed as female.

Sagara Yoshiharu on the foreground and Oda Nobuna at the back
For the series, the protagonist, Sagara Yoshiharu a Sengoku maniac somehow gotten himself back in time, in the middle of a battle. He was saved by Toukichirou Kinoshita who was killed after saving him. According to history, Kinoshita isn't suppose to die here and in order for history to proceed accordingly, Yoshiharu is now replacing Kinoshita. He later serves Nobuna(female version of Oda Nobunaga) and together with the rest of Nobuna's subordinates, Yoshiharu and the rest helps Nobuna conquer the lands of ancient Japan.

I didn't want to watch it in the first place because I was afraid it will turn out to be another Sengoku Otome.(it isn't bad but if oda nobuna no yabou was about 70-90% similar or the same, I really can't bring myself to watch a similar thing again) The good news is that, Oda Nobuna no Yabou certainly did not disappoint! In fact, it is 10x more interesting than Sengoku Otome!(No Offense, but it is the truth) The characters are really cute too!(Not to mention it is filled with loli and
teasing fan services) My favourite would be Hanbei-chan and Goemon(loves it when she 'stutters')! xD

I will recommend this series firstly to all open-minded Sengoku Period enthusiast like Yoshiharu, moeblobs lovers that doesn't mind a plot and some actions, and lastly to those who wants something awesome to try out. Those that have an objections with the series changing the gender of the characters should stay out, though I will still recommend trying it out first before burning it with fire.

Giving it a 7.1 for the plot(because it is almost the same as the history, which is interesting), 8.2 for the art/animation(this series has one hell of an animation, the animation details is really that good. Background art wise around average), 8.1 for the characters(really good character design though I dont quite like Nobuna, they have an detailed appropriate accessories which suit them too. Character expressions are pretty top notch as well. Character personalities are great too.), and lastly 8.3 for the audio/sounds!(Seiyuu are almost perfect for their roles, though they shouldn't have used Kanae Itou on Nobuna. She has a sweet voice but that doesn't really suit Nobuna. The battle sounds and special effects are quite detailed too. Lastly, OP is great but personally I think the ED is way too awesome) My final rating for the series is an 8!

Hakuouki Reimeiroku - #hakuouki, #anime_reimei

Although this is the third season of Hakuouki, the storyline is actually set on a timeline before the first two season. This is actually the prequel to Hakuouki meaning the event in this series took place first and then followed by the first and second.

Hakuouki Reimeiroku is a Historical, Action Drama that took place in the Samurai period of ancient Japan. It does also have some romance(lesser in this season) and supernatural themes.(the rasetsu AKA fury, also lesser in this season) I would say that in terms of plot, this season has a deeper one than the previous seasons. There are 2 new protagonist in this season namely, Ryunosuke Ibuki & Kamo Serizawa.

Ryunosuke Ibuki on the left and Kamo Serizawa at the right
Well one would begin the series hating Serizawa due to his horrible attitude and actions to others, they will slowly see the reason why did he do what he had done. To be frank, I personally didn't like him too but now, I can say that I can at least accept him. The other character, Ryunosuke started off as an obstinate guy who is depicted as a "weakling". He was saved by Serizawa in a forest but was treated as a slave by him afterwards. He later opens up to the rest of the Shinsengumi(it wasn't call Shinsengumi then) members and started to pick up some Kenjutsu (Can't find the right word. Swordsplay?) after Saito's push.

As the entire story of Hakuouki is based off some of the historical events in ancient Japan(not sure if fictional or not - do not have much knowledge on it), the story is pretty much the same as well. For this season, it is about how the Shinsengumi got their name and title and also how the Oshimizu(fury potion?) is developed.

Would recommend this series to those that loved the previous 2 season and those that loves historical series. It is not so much for romance lovers as there isn't that much in the current season. Previous two would be much better. Also, definitely not for those that claimed this series is Yaoi even before they started watching.(Even for the previous 2 season, it is only a Reverse Harem on the extreme). I would recommend watching the first season then the third and then the second or the simply the default order.

For rating, I would give it a 7.6 for the plot, 7.5 for the art/backgrounds, 7.8 for the audio/sounds(Character voices are really well done and very suit the respective characters. OP and ED is your usual Hauouki-style. Personally love the ED more. Both are good of course.) and 8.2 for the characters(Hakuouki has one of the best character art/design ever. The production dont get skimpy on background characters as well - though they might have similar art xD. The character animation/emotions/personalities are done pretty good too.)

Ebiten: Kouritsu Ebisugawa Koukou Tenmon-Bu - #Ebiten
The plot of this series is pretty random in the beginning and only became clearer near the end. To tell the true, its plot isn't that great either. I would say the series stands out in other ways such as the gags, characters, and even its fanservice, though neither of them are great on their own either.

Ebiten is a comedy series(half its gags are parodies), with astronomy as one of its theme. The fan service is fairly strong here. (mostly teasing of Kanamori by Kyouko - she would get striped down to nothing by Kyouko at the worst, though nothing is shown, and some panty shots of the other characters) I personally thinks that the characters in the series is one of its best catch. The protagonist of the series are Todayama Kyouko - the club president of the As[s]tronomy Club, Todayama Izumiko - Kyouko's younger sister who attended another school and Noya Itsuki - a new member of the club, he's a guy by the way. Other notable characters are Rikei Hiromatsu - a girl with a cat fetish! (love her so much when she sees a neko~), Hataka Kanamori - a girl with a severe BL fetish and who is also a little dumb sometimes(love her too! >.<), Hasumi Ooba - vice president of the club, Oomori Shouko - "Otome In Love", Iseda Yuka - school council president, childhood friend of Hasumi and a former member of the club & finally NEKO-SENSEI(the most kawaii thing I ever see in the series), the "club advisor"/substitute of Oomori Shouko(often called Oomori-sensei too), it is a cat by the way. I love the star gazing moment in the series as well, though they aren't done that detailed-ly.
Hiromatsu and Neko-Sensei! :3
The series do not have an Opening Theme and often substitutes that with parody soundtracks and logo. The only true logo of the series is used at the final episode.(the one used on the banner) I personally thinks that Ebiten has one of the nicest logo ever! To sum the show up, I would say that it is a random crazy comedy series with a reason!

I will recommend the series to moeblobs lover(pretty sure they would at least like it), someone that loves cats(yes! cause the 'neko rush' in the series is just too epic to be missed by cat lovers) and not so much for plot-watchers(the plot isn't great, nor is it the series' strength but it is definitely something that gives a direction to the series and of course watchable).

My rating for the series is 6.7 for the plot (a little too shallow and confusing plot, until everything gets clearer near the end), 7 for the art/background (nothing unique but not horrible either), 7.5 for the audio/sounds(there's only and Ending Theme for the series which is done by the seiyuu. The seiyuu cast is pretty good on average, though I would prefer they use a less feminine voice for him. Asuka Nishi did a fantastic job voicing Kanamori, I can't wait to hear more of her characters! The series also have a better than average sound effects due to the parody in it, especially the beginning of the episode), and 7.5 for the characters. (a slightly above average character design, quite a high quality level of uniqueness of the characteristic of each character and a slightly underdeveloped character relationship) That made up an overall score of 7.2 for the series~

Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-Chan ~Eigo de Tatakau Mahou Shoujo~ - #moe_ribbon
www Dame no Ingurisshu izu Dame desu! Please, if you are trying to learn English/learning English, DO NOT WATCH THIS. The English here are mainly for the gags(not sure if they are serious about it or not) and really broken episode 2 or 3 onwards. Not really sure what the heck it is truely about but oh well~! I watch it for the Engrish!

Ribbon-Chan(such a long name! Therefore I have shorten it to just Ribbon-chan to make my job easier. xD) is a 3min short production! This series is a Comedy that teaches really random Engrish together with Mahou Shoujo Ribbon-Chan, her comrades, pets(?) and the evil villain. This series is really random... Repeat after me! This series is really RANDOM! But I guess at least the 'narrator' who pronounces the Engrish has a clear and cute voice. Though the English is really broken, grammar/sentence structure wise, the pronunciations of each word are actually very accurate in fact.

Random lol-Engrish! Ribbon-chan on the right
Actually, both me and the producers have no idea why is this produced ww (As shown in one of the episode) They themselves had no idea how it really turned into an anime. They actually planned it all as a joke and never thought it will become real, therefore the shortage of funds and such "crappiness". Many staffs are also quitting and currently not many are left after each episode. ww. Not sure if they are trolling(probably half-truth), but it does have some loopholes.

Anyway, English aside, the comedy here would probably range at 8 at its best, 6 on average and 5 on the worst. Still a watchable one I would say~ (It's just 3 minutes!) I wouldn't say it is a crappy series, in fact, if you enjoy 'randomness', or don't mind it, this series is definitely watchable. You can probably ignore the Mahou Shoujo theme because except the characters being depicted as Mahou Shoujo/Evil Villains, there is basically no connection with Mahou Shoujo at all! (except episode 1?)

Would recommend it to anyone with too much free time and wants a little laugh at what he/she doesn't really understand(basically someone like me! www). Not for anyone too serious-minded of course!

Since this is a 3mins production, I will use the different rating method again. 6.5 for the 'laughable meter' and 6.3 for the 'fascinating meter'. So a 6.4 overall!

やっと終わり!
