First would be Blade. It's another production based off Marvel Comics by Madhouse Studios. Impression before i watched it wasn't that good because i was never a fan of re-regionising of a series especially when America-related elements are involved. (Take a look at what the hollywood did to DragonBall and what Fun*mat*on's DUBS did to our precious animes.) But nevertheless, i went on to try it and to my amaze, i was surprised. I have never seen or heard anything about Blade in Marvel Comics and probably that helped because what i saw was a new production and can't compare it to the original.
Blade is about Vampire Slaying, so if you are a fan of the paranormal(no horror though), this show is probably for you. Blade, the name of the half vampire, half human protagonist, is trying to track down Decon Frost, a vampire with 4 fangs and also the one who killed his mother.
It isn't bad and worth a try and for those who insisted that it is bad, you would be missing out a good show.
My rating for it is 7.2 stars.
For those who don't know, the story focuses on class 2F in a special school where the examination systems isn't just your average pen and paper. It's SUMMON! SUMMON! SUMMON! and your "Shoukanjuu" or summonings will battle it out with someone else's. It's a comedy and a really funny one.
For the 2nd season, it started with a beach scene and i was like, "Did i miss an episode or something?". But that's probably because it's been a long time since i watched the first. Will probably re-watch it.(My re-watching list is extremely packed. D:) The 2nd episode was much better like i have expected.
My rating for it - Hmmm... not sure... needs more episode to rate properly... currently a 6.9 if really insist, but that will without a doubt rise in the future.
Next on the list is Blood-C. This is a new "Blood" series by Production I.G. and from the unique art, you can easily tell it was done by CLAMP. Not sure if it has any linkage with Blood+ or Blood: The Last Vampire, but all i know is that all the protagonist are called Saya. (On a side note: I love that name! :D)
To sum the story so far up briefly, it is an action series about a normal high school girl in the morning, Saya who hunts down the "Old Ones" or Furukimono during the night.
Currently, for episode 1, It's filled with actions on the 2nd half. :D I loved how the fighting scene went. Quite a good job done by the producer or who every wrote it. And for the first time, the 'bad guy' is actually kind of cool for me. For episode 2, there were 2 battle scenes and both were great!
My rating for the show is a 7.5!!! and is currently a must watch unless you can't stand CLAMP's art style which i know quite a few people can't.
Next, Dantalian no Shoka. Watch some review somewhere on the internet and they said that it was like Gosick. After watching the first episode, it don't think it is much like Gosick. Dantalian no Shoka is more of Fantasy than to mystery.
It is about Hugh Anthony Disward, who inherited part of his grandfather assets, which includes an old mansion containing an archive of books. His grandfather also asked him to take good care of Dalian who he thought was the name of a pet or something. Dalian turns out to be a mysterious girl who is actually a Dantalian, a gateway to the "Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian", which contains the prohibited "Phantom Books".
Episode one was great!!! As a fantasy fan, I am loving it~ The concept of a girl as a gateway was not really that original but still not a frequently used one, so i am definitely A-OK with it. Dalian is cute~ but compared to the original Light Novel's version, I like that one more. Either way, Both are cute~ :D If you are a Fantasy fan, and don't mind a slightly slow moving anime, THIS IS THE SERIES FOR YOU!
I will give it a 7.7 as i feel it have a lot of potential.
My next review is on Double-J, which is a short series of 4mins per episode. This is "different"...
Ever watched an anime where all the character are drawn with different art style, the background exceptionally realistic and monotone and not much movement made by the characters which make it seems as if they were cutouts from paper drawn and then pasted onto a monotone picture of a local landscape. Nothing on storyline as it is a pure comedy gag show.
If you are the kind where you can laugh when compared to the art of ancient manga(a picture of a drawn frog, and that's all) and the art of ancient manga added with a touch of modern manga artsyle (still the same frog but with boots added onto its legs), this is for you.
and i found this picture which basically sums it all up.
The 2nd last review for today is Ikoku Meiro no Croisee. The first thing i have to say for this series is that Yune is extremely cute!! She is even cuter then a doll, if you get what i mean.
This is a slow-paced series where it took placed in the 19th century. Oscar a french traveler, brought Yune, a Japanese girl back to his ironwork shop in Paris after she offered to help. There, his newphew, Claude was at first reluctant in accepting Yune into his shop but soon succumbed to Yune's plead. We will get to know how the two, who can't even understand each others' language, slowly making an efforts to understand each other.
As i have said, this is a VERY SLOW-PACED anime, hence if you cannot stand slow-paced shows, Stay Out! Otherwise, you will be able to enjoy Yune's sweetness and cuteness. >///< For me, I watched the first episode for the plot and after watching, I felt like an idiot. So, i proceeded with the 2nd episode but this time, for the sole purpose(99%) of watching Yune! :3
I will give it a 7 mainly because of Yune! I know it deserves about 7.5 even without Yune, BUT I JUST CAN'T STAND THE DULLNESS OF THE SERIES. :<
Last one for the day goes to Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi. Right from the beginning, even before I watched it, i have an unpleasant feeling about the series. Even before finishing episode 1, I knew i will probably be right about that. After watching the show, I asked myself, "Why am I watching this?". Today, I tried to watch episode 2 in hope that it will please me. However, it did the opposite instead.
The series is about Kurogane Taito who finally remembered Saito Himea 9 years later in an accident. During that accident, Taito's head was severely detached from his body. However, even so, he still isn't dead. Instead, he managed to somehow attach back his head and heal himself from all the injury received from the impact from some mysterious power. From the traumatic experience that he is suppose to be already dead, he remembered Himea, his 'friend' 9 years back who is still waiting for him to come to her.
The concept and idea of an undead who can actually die after dying for 7 times in a row within 15mins is really interesting. However, DO NOT be fooled by this. It's just an illusion covering up a mockery. I don't know how the manga goes, but i have a feeling it is definitely much better.
My rating for the series is unfortunately a 4. Blame me, Criticize it, Flame me but i will still keep that rating which i feels is still much too high.
For the next post, it will be on the review of Kamisama Dolls, Kami-sama no Memochou, Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel, Mayo Chiki, Mawaru Penguindrum, and more if I have the time.
