I have decided to write the post earlier, so that i can avoid the 12am-2am mark where i should be sleeping. For today, it will first cover the remaining series that have ended in the current Summer 2011 season. And again, if time allows, i will go on to the rest. Here goes~
First to go, will be Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai. Again, after watching only the first few episode, several netizens commented that the series makes no sense and is a total failure, etc. If i were to drop it in the beginning like them, then probably i will say the same too. However if you were to make it till the end, recall all the past episode, piecing them together in a more simplistic manner, this is a pretty interesting light harem, comedy romance. Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai is based on an Eroge(18+ dating sims) created by Navel(the anime is about 16+), the same company who made Shuffle!. The story is about the protagonist, Takashi Haneda who shuts himself up due to an incident in the past and grew up with "multiple personality". This personalities includes Chitose Shuusuke, Narita Hayato, and a later appearance of Itami Karura as well as Takashi himself. Unknowing of the rest, Takashi goes to school in the morning as usual. In the evening, he "transforms" into Shuusuke where he works part time in a local cafe. At night, he again transforms into Hayato, who works as a handyman in the local district. Both Hayato and Shuusuke are aware of one another and have vowed to coexist with Takashi, until the real Takashi returns. Karura however, doesn't comes out based on time. He only comes out when Takashi experiences extreme anger and is the "violence" representation of Takashi.
If you have watched Shuffle! before, this is around 60% similar to it, beside the split personality thing. Also, if you like Animes like Shuffle! or Dating Sims games, and doesn't mind a little confusing start, this is the series for you. The heroines are pretty decent too. I personally like Yamashina Miyako(the quiet version) who is actually only the sub heroine and Ootori Naru if she could quieten down a little.
My rating for this series is a 6.
Next up, Sengoku Otome ~Momoiro Paradox~. Netizens have called this series a Josei-version of Sengoku Basara. I personally did not watch Sengoku Basara(planning to watch) so i can't confirm about that. However both series are about the ancient samurais. Sengoku Otome is a comedy with minimum action and yuri themes. It started with a middle school girl, Hide Yoshino(Hideyoshi) who was mysteriously warped into a world which resemblance Ancient Japan, where the only difference is that, there is not a single male in that world. There, she meets Oda Nobunaga and her trusted right hand-man, Mitsuhide Akechi. She joins them and slowly became Nobunaga's left hand-man where together, they search and recovers the parts of the Crimson Armor which rumored that the one who put on all the parts, will obtain the power to rule the land.
It started out quite dull. It couldn't leave much impression in the first few episode. However, when the search for the Crimson Armor begins, the series starts to stand out. Although filled with girls and only girls, and maybe a talking dog, this series isn't filled with nonsensical ecchi scenes. This series proofs that you can attract watchers not only with "tearing clothes" in a series with fighting girls. I pretty much liked it overall even without a deep story plot. Hide-san is cute~ ^////^ I love her voice too! Hidaka Rina did a good job voicing her.
I rate the series a 7. C:
I saw potential in Sofuteni. If it have continued till the tournaments then this will be one decent anime to watch. However, it kind of let me down and ended tragically. If it had entered into the tournaments, it will be somewhat similar to Prince of Tennis, with a comedy tweak. This is a Sports Comedy with quite a few fan-service scenes. The story is about a Soft Tennis club in Hakuou Middle School. The original club members include two 2nd years member, Asuna Harukaze and Sawanatsu Kotone, a 3rd year member who is also the president of the club, Akiyama Chitose and a first year mysterious student, Fuyukawa Kurusu. They are later joined by a 5th member, Elizabeth Warren who is a British and a "Childhood" friend of the club's coach, Mishimagi You. Towards the end of the series, they are further joined by Yayoi Hiragashi who claims that its her sister(who is already dead and possessing her), Uzuki Hiragishi that wanted to join.
Each of the members have their own special traits, which makes the show hilariously enjoyable. You got to love Asuna and Kotone's duo, the Salamander who comes out on certain times, the failure of a president and her wacky ideas, Kurusu and her never tiring surprises, Elizabeth participation in the wacky surprises of Kurusu in the background, Yayoi ability to see the dead which scares the crap out of the coach and lastly, Hanako!!!! I would have given at least an 8 but since the ending is kind of crappy...
But it is still a pretty enjoyable series, so i will be giving it a 7.
Lastly for today, I have Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san! This is a 15mins comedy with significant strong visual and audio elements. For a 15 mins anime, this is pretty well done. It is about a certain Detective Firm, who uses Demons to achieve the client's request. The chief of the company, Akutabe is a demon summoner. He have an assistant, Sakuma Rinko who is currently training to be a demon summoner. The first demon they summoned is the Demon of Lust, Azazel. Following him, we see several other demons being summoned through out the episodes which includes, Beelzebub, Undine, Gusion, Salamander and Moloch.
Except for the explicit contents(some heavy languages and graphic violence), this is a very good series. However, yet again, it too suffers from an abrupt ending. Nevertheless, watch it, be entertain by it, laugh, and enjoy the series is all i have left to say.
I give it 7.2 stars! :P
My next post will be on reviews about series that are currently ongoing. Do stay tune~ :)
